Ehoan
|
An Ehoan must first live in a way in which all they're connected to, in what they use or interact with, are connected in a completely harmonious way. Where there are no conflicts or harmful connections in that person's life and their environment, which enables and maintains a healthy and thriving ecosystem. In addition to serving their community by bringing the community toward Ehoah or maintaining an Ehoah way of life.
Many of those who would be considered Ehoan would be the medicine people and shamans of people still living in traditional Indigenous ways prior to what most consider 'civilization', usually uncontacted. "Usually uncontacted" because many contacted peoples have taken on items in their lives from 'civilization' that have harmful connections. One example would be clothing manufactured in factories that are causing harm to the workers and the environment. The reason why these medicine and shaman people are considered Ehoan is because their immediate environments remain intact and harmonious even though they are actively living full lives in that place; Because they are teachers on how to live in a harmonious way within Nature, who always continue to work to ensure these harmonious connections remain and find ways to improve these connections if possible.

The use of technology by an Ehoan, or there being an urban Ehoan, is not out of the question. It is only that thus far there are no known examples of advanced technology that is not harmful to the ecosystem. Or any current known examples of an urban environment that doesn't have harmful connections. Perhaps someday there will be through the efforts of Saegoahs and allies.
Even if Saegoahs haven't achieved Ehoah yet they are encouraged take on exemplary roles. Especially if they have skills and knowledge in areas that are greatly needed by the community to establish harmonious connections. It is encouraged to acknowledge that you haven't all the solutions as a Saegoah, and to avoid implying as much when in such an important role. Even as an Ehoan this is encouraged. As it expresses a willingness to learn beyond what is already known as solutions, even if the current solutions work well enough to not require improvements. There may always be better ways and should always be searching for better ways.
The title of Ehoan isn't normally self applied but is instead given by other Saegoahs who've acknowledged that you've reached Ehoah and are assisting others to reach it too.
As for the Ehoan being open to students, it is sometimes better to make becoming a student a bit of a challenge rather than being readily and freely accessible. Making yourself difficult to find is one method of selecting new students as it winnows out the less determined folk (Is it a coincidence that the object of a quest is always found in a distant swampy castle or on a mountain?). This is especially useful if you don't have time to teach many people.
